Veronica Cartwright (born 20 April 1949) was just 13 aged at the time she portrayed Cathy Brenner the birthday girl in Alfred Hitchcock's classic 1963 horror flick The Birds. Bonanza was among the first westerns on television to be broadcast in colour. The film was based on the Cartwrights which was a fictional family of ranchers living near Virginia City Nevada a real mining town in the mid 1800s. The character portrayed was the younger Cartwright son whose mom (Felicia in the pilot but then changed later to Marie) a widow and mother who's child passed away from the fever (episode Marie My Love) was from French Creole descent.
