Anna Paquin

Anna Paquin was born in the city of Winnipeg, but was raised in Wellington. She was the first actress to make her acting debut in Flora McGrath, the romantic drama film Piano. Paquin was born in Winnipeg, raised in Wellington and made her stage debut as Flora McGrath when she played her role as Flora in The Piano. She won an Academy Award at the age of 11 for Best supporting Actress. Anna Paquin's full title is Anna Helene Paquin. Born on the 24th of July, 1982 at Winnipeg Manitoba Canada, she was the first Canadian born New Zealand actress. As as a young girl, she was awarded the Academy Award for best support actress. Her performance as the empathetic and curious girl of Holly Hunter played in The Piano (1993) was the reason she won the prize. When she answered an audition call, she won the role in the role of Flora McGrath, the daughter of a mute Scottish pianist who relocates to New Zealand in mid-19th-century to get married. It was her first role at the age of nine and had no previous experience as an actor. At the age of a teen the family relocated from Canada and eventually to United States. Paquin played a minor role in the film's title role when she was just a young girl on Franco Zeffirelli's Jane Eyre (1996) as well as a lead part in the film Fly Away Home (1996). Paquin appeared as Frankie Addams in a 1997 TV movie adaptation of Carson McCullers' novel The Member of the Wedding as well as a small role as the queen of Spain in Steven Spielberg's Amistad (1997). She played teenagers on Hurlyburly (1998), She's All That (2000), A Walk on the Moon (2000). Also, she was the character of the teenage groupie Polexia Aphrodisa on Almost Famous (2000).
