Dolly-Parton

Dolly Parton was born on the 19th January, 1946 on the 19th of January 1946 in Locust Ridge Tenn. She lived with twelve other kids. Her vivid imagination helped her escape from the harsh realities of everyday life. Before she learned to write and read Dolly Parton was composing her own music. When she was 8years old, she purchased her first electric guitar. She began to sing at a Knoxville Tenn Radio Station. The first album she recorded was within the same calendar year with Gold Band Records, a small label that was an independent. While still in highschool she established herself local, but longed for a larger stage. She moved to Nashville the day after graduating in 1964. The first charting record she had for Monument Records included Dumb Blonde and Something Fishy both in 1967. Porter Wagoner began looking for female singers to join his TV show syndicated by a network at approximately the same time. Parton got her first gig in the year 1967, signed with RCA Records by 1968, and became a member of the Grand Ole Opry. In 1974, she resigned from Wagoner's show due to the commercial success of her own songs such as Joshua Coats from Many Colors or Jolene was surpassing their joint albums. Parton's song, I Will Never Have Love for You (for Wagoner), reached the No. #1 spot following their split. The first time in 1974.
